I have recovered but not fully, says Dr M in video

Dr Mahathir Mohamad explains in video that doctors at the National Heart Institute have allowed him to spend a few hours at home since Tuesday.

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is still undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the National Heart Institute (IJN), according to a statement that was released on Twitter.

A video of him speaking from his home was also shared via the @chedetofficial account.

In the video, Mahathir explains that he has “recovered but not fully”.

“Since Tuesday, doctors have allowed me to return home during the day in between physiotherapy sessions and the medical procedures I have to undergo at IJN,” he said.

As he is still undergoing rehabilitation and treatment, no visitors are allowed, be it at home or at IJN, with the exception of immediate family members.

His wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali also extended the family’s gratitude to all well-wishers for their prayers for his speedy recovery.

Mahathir was warded at IJN’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on Jan 22 but was moved to a normal ward four days later.
