PETALING JAYA:
Police have issued a summons to the owner of a Perodua Axia shown in a viral video clip being driven along a motorcycle lane on the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (Duke).

The incident had been recorded and the video went viral on social media, inviting criticism from netizens over the danger the act posed to other highway users.

Kuala Lumpur traffic enforcement chief Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said his department began tracking down the owner of the vehicle immediately after receiving the viral video,

“The owner of the vehicle, who is a 49-year-old local woman, was found at about 5pm on Saturday,” he said in a statement. “A summons was issued to the owner of the vehicle for not following the traffic signs.”

He said the motorcycle lane is a route that is reserved for motorcycles only, and vehicles such as cars are not allowed to pass through it.

“Such actions endanger other road users and can lead to accidents,” he said.
