PETALING JAYA:
National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers affected by floods have been given a three-month loan moratorium.

Higher education minister Noraini Ahmad said the affected borrowers can start applying for the loan deferment from Tuesday, adding that it will be effective until March 31 next year.

“Further details on its implementation will be announced by PTPTN.

“We are committed to assisting those in need during these tough times.

“We hope that this loan deferment will reduce the burden of the borrowers affected by the floods,” she said in the statement.

On Thursday, FMT reported that PTPTN chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan had instructed the top management to propose a targeted moratorium on loan repayments for borrowers affected by the floods.

He had also instructed them to simplify the process of rescheduling loan repayments if  borrowers affected by the floods make such requests.
