Wait for report on ‘teacher in isolation’ video, says deputy minister

Dr Mah Hang Soon says the public should avoid blowing up the matter.

Screengrabs from a video in which a man claimed to be a teacher who had been isolated in a storeroom for not being vaccinated.
IPOH:
A video purportedly showing an unvaccinated teacher who had earlier been kept in isolation in a storeroom at his school is still under full investigation, said the education ministry.

Deputy minister Dr Mah Hang Soon urged the public not to speculate on the matter as investigations were still being carried out by the ministry together with the parties concerned.

“I think we should avoid blowing up the issue, which will worsen the situation. Just wait for the full report,” said Mah.

The matter came to light when a one-minute video on TikTok went viral several days ago.

The man in the video expressed disappointment at the treatment he claimed to have received for being unvaccinated and said he had been isolated first in the physical education storeroom and later in the cleaner’s storeroom.

Last Wednesday, Perak education, higher learning and human resources committee chairman Ahmad Saidi Mohamad Daud reportedly said that the outcome of a full and detailed investigation by the state education department had been submitted to the ministry.
