PH claims 2 candidates’ phones hacked

This comes after some voters claimed they received threatening messages from the candidates.

Pakatan Harapan has lodged police reports over the alleged phone hacking incident.
AYER KEROH:
Melaka Pakatan Harapan (PH) claims that the phones of two of its candidates and another candidate’s representative have been hacked.

In a statement, PH’s Melaka election steering committee said they were informed that the phones of Klebang candidate Gue Teck, Rim candidate Prasanth Kumar and Ayer Molek election director Wan Mahadi Wan Hussein were all hacked.

The coalition said the matter came to light after the three men were informed by some voters from the local Chinese community of “threatening” text messages supposedly sent from their phones.

“The voters explained that they received a message warning that their wives’ private photos will be viralled if they did not vote for PH.”

Police reports on the matter have been lodged.

“This is a heinous move. We are not sure who sent these messages but we are certain it is from our rivals,” PH said.

The coalition said it wants the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the matter and take action against those responsible for the hacking.

PH claimed their rivals’ “dirty tactics” were aimed at discouraging members of the local Chinese community from voting for them in the Melaka polls tomorrow.
