According to MACC chief Azam Baki, the decision on whether an investigation paper will be opened depends on the outcome of discussions between Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the relevant agencies.
Nonetheless, Azam said he had instructed deputy chief commissioner (operations) Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya and his officers to meet with the Port Dickson MP, reported Sinar Harian.
It had earlier been reported that MACC would work with BNM and other agencies to investigate the Pandora Papers and claims made by Anwar.
Anwar has been vehement in his calls for the Pandora Papers leaks to be investigated and had asked for the matter to be debated in Parliament, although it was rejected.
The Pandora Papers refer to a series of leaked documents which outline the offshore dealings of a number of high profile global figures, with Malaysians named in the leak including finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Other locals named in the documents include former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, deputy finance minister Yamani Hafez Musa and the family of fugitive businessman and central 1MDB figure Low Taek Jho.
