
Checks by FMT at several major plaza tolls and rest and recreation (R&R) areas showed that traffic on the main roads in and out of Kuala Lumpur remained smooth.
Zamri Yunos, 61, together with his family said they were from Selangor and heading to Pontian, Johor, for a short getaway.
“We are so happy that the government has eased travel restrictions. Now, we can travel like usual,” he told FMT when met at the Seremban R&R area this morning.
Nur Arif Faisal and his wife Nur Hafizah, who are from Putrajaya, said they were heading to Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, for a short holiday and food trip.
“We packed and planned this ‘food hunting’ session immediately after the government made the announcement yesterday. We want to eat ‘lemang’ in Senawang.”
Hafizah added that many hotels and Airbnbs had been fully booked, saying: “It is quite hard to find a vacant Airbnb. Most of them are fully booked.”
Meanwhile, Md Hamdan Sanudin, 65 said he was from Sungai Buloh and heading to Batu Pahat, Johor, to visit his hometown.
“I’m going back to visit my parents. It has been two years since I went home,” he told FMT.
At the Genting Sempah R&R near Bentong, Pahang, most travellers were from Pahang and heading either to Genting Highlands or to the capital for work.
Ahmad Musa and his wife Norlida said Malaysians would probably travel during the weekends.
“It is Monday and people have to work. Besides, school has just started. Just wait for this coming weekend, there will be more cars on the road,” Norlida said at the Genting Sempah R&R.
