PETALING JAYA:
A man died soon after being arrested for suspected drug trafficking by Sentul police yesterday.

The man was picked up during a raid on his flat at Taman Dato Senu by a team from the district narcotics criminal investigations division at 5pm.

Police seized methamphetamine and heroin.

In a statement today, Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said the suspect suffered shortness of breath after his arrest and was pronounced dead by health workers soon after.

A niece of the deceased lodged a report at 3.15am today, claiming that police had used force against the suspect during the arrest.

Azmi said police were conducting a thorough and transparent investigation and that updates would be provided from time to time.

He urged those with information or inquiries to contact the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2146 0584/585 or any nearby police station.
