PETALING JAYA:
A total of RM72.72 million has been collected through compound notices issued for violating Covid-19 SOPs as of the end of August, health minister Khairy Jamaluddin told the Dewan Rakyat.

In a response to Taiping MP Teh Kok Lim, he said that this came from 181,704 fines that were issued since the beginning of the pandemic in March last year.

In a separate reply to Kampar MP Su Keong Siong, Khairy broke this down further, stating that while the bulk of the notices were issued this year, the majority of the collection was made in 2020.

In 2020, 67,542 compound notices were issued, of which 43,685 were paid to the tune of RM43.6 million.

A total of 114,162 notices had been issued so far this year, but only 26,627 have been paid, totalling RM29.1 million.
