Four foreigners among five nabbed over parcel scam

The suspects were arrested on Aug 23 in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

The police have arrested two foreign men, two foreign women and a local, and solved a case where a woman was cheated of more than RM1 million.

Police have arrested four foreigners and a local man for being involved in love and parcel scam activities.

In a statement, Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said the suspects, comprising two foreign men, two foreign women and a local, all aged between 22 and 48, were arrested in three separate raids at an apartment in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, on Aug 23.

In the raids, police seized various equipment believed to have been used for their activities, including 16 mobile phones, laptops and three ATM cards.

Padzli said police had managed to solve one case involving a woman who fell for the con and was cheated out of RM1.015 million.

“The local suspect will be remanded for four days while the other foreign suspects will be remanded for 14 days to assist (in) further investigations,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
