Bersatu Supreme Council member Mohd Redzuan Yusof said the political leaders should also focus on efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic and revive the country’s economy.
Redzuan, who is a minister with special functions in the Prime Minister’s Department, said the current situation in the country required political leaders to sit together to find ways to solve more important problems in the country.
“All elected representatives should prioritise the country’s interest especially in the Covid-19 management and the economy. When there is an election, we can play politics.
“If there is any weakness in the government, let us work together to fix it,” he told reporters after attending a community empowerment briefing at the Civil Defence headquarters here today.
He was commenting on the resignation of several ministers from Umno after the party’s Supreme Council decided to withdraw its support for the PN government recently.
Redzuan’s comments drew a withering response from Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, who accused Redzuan of not being interested in the management of Covid-19 but only interested in remaining in power.
He alleged that Redzuan had no right to talk about handling Covid-19 because there were doubts about the standing of the PN government following the withdrawal of support from Umno MPs.
