However, it told FMT that it was waiting for “clarification” from the National Security Council (MKN) over its operations in Selangor during the EMCO.
“The company looks forward to safely resuming operations at the appropriate time and continuing to produce its much-needed medical gloves for frontliners and healthcare workers in Malaysia and globally.
“Top Glove continues to maintain strict adherence to the relevant rules as well as Covid-19 preventive SOPs, and is committed to safeguarding the health and safety of its workforce and the communities in which it operates.”
It is unclear what clarification Top Glove is seeking from MKN.
A Malaysiakini report had said the firm had been issued a letter by the international trade and industry ministry (Miti) allowing its Klang factory to operate, despite the EMCO.
The news portal, quoting sources, later said the Miti letter had been revoked as rubber glove production was not deemed an essential service during the EMCO by MKN.
“During system configuration, some companies were able to download the letter but they can’t use this letter because the SOPs supersede everything,” said the source.
In its comment to FMT, Top Glove neither confirmed nor denied the news portal’s article.
