The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said he was previously informed by Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari that the state had a capacity for 40,000 daily vaccinations for June.
“We provide the vaccines according to the capacity. So, I’m not sure what the state exco member was referring to, since she was not present during my meeting with the menteri besar,” he said at a press conference today.
Khairy, who is also science, technology and innovation minister, was referring to Selangor public health executive councillor Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud who claimed that vaccination centres (PPVs) in the state were running low on vaccines.
Khairy said some 1.3 million vaccines comprising Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca jabs were delivered to Selangor on June 27 and a total of 322,606 vaccines remain unused.
He added that the state’s vaccine utilisation rate was currently at 76%, the lowest in the country.
“We will increase the daily capacity of vaccinations to 130,000 in July. Those are our plans, so the question of vaccines not being delivered or insufficient supply is untrue.”
