Nation inching closer to 10% vaccination target, says Khairy

This comes after more than 250,000 were vaccinated daily over 3 consecutive days.

PETALING JAYA:
Malaysia is close to achieving its target of inoculating 10% of its population against Covid-19, the minister overseeing the national vaccination programme, Khairy Jamaluddin, said.

This comes after more than 250,000 doses were administered daily over three consecutive days.

Khairy said 252,773 doses were administered on June 22 and 250,529 the day after. Yesterday, 268,604 received their vaccines.

“We are nearing the 10% vaccination target required to move into phase two,” he said referring to the National Recovery Plan 2021.

Speaking at a joint press conference with transport minister Wee Ka Siong when visiting the vaccination centre in Port Klang this morning, Khairy said 4.9 million people above the age of 18 had received their first dose.

Out of this, 1.89 million had already received their second dose.

A few days ago, Khairy said 10% of the country’s population, or 3.2 million people, were expected to be fully vaccinated against the virus by the middle of next month.
