In a statement today, KPKT said hawkers and food vendors with a permanent or temporary business permit issued by their local authority did not need to obtain approval through Miti’s Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) because the permit was sufficient as proof.
It also said that if their business involved inter-district travel, they would need to obtain permission from the police by submitting proof of the permit to them.
“This police permission applies only to small-scale hawkers and not to farmers’ markets, wet markets and night markets.
“This decision is effective immediately and applies throughout the movement control order 3.0,” KPKT said.
It reiterated that all small traders who had been given permission to operate and travel between districts must comply with the SOPs set by the National Security Council (MKN) and the health ministry.
It was recently reported that businesses and sectors allowed to operate during the lockdown must apply through a one-stop centre managed by Miti.
MKN said the centre would issue permission letters for those listed as essential to operate once it receives confirmation from the ministries overseeing the relevant sector.
