Man slashes car tyres and threatens to chop neighbour – over trees

Police have detained a German man in his 60s over the incident in Meru, Klang.

Police said the man was upset that his neighbour scolded him for planting a tree opposite his house and another at a playground, which left a mess.
PETALING JAYA:
A German man broke into his neighbour’s house in Meru, Klang, slashed the tyres of a car and then threatened to cut off his neighbour’s hand — all over a tiff on the planting of trees, say police.

The neighbour, a committee member of the Taman Desa Permai residents’ association, had earlier reprimanded the man for planting a tree outside his home and another at the playground.

Klang Utara district deputy police chief Mohd Khairi Shafie said the neighbour did not mind the tree being planted across from his home or the playground but was unhappy that the man had left the place in a mess.

Khairi said the irate man, in his 60s, then allegedly entered the porch of the neighbour’s house in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and slashed the tyres of a car parked there.

“When the neighbour came out of his house to see the commotion, the man allegedly threatened to chop off his hand,” he said in a statement.

Khairi said the man was being investigated for trespassing, committing mischief and criminal intimidation under Sections 427, 447 and 506 of the Penal Code.

He said the man had been released on police bail and the investigation papers had been sent to the prosecutor’s office.
