
Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, 32, reiterated that she wanted “a life for a life”, referring to the death penalty that the murder charge provides for upon conviction.
“I am very, very thankful and satisfied with the (murder) charge. I feel very relieved,” she told reporters at the court complex here.
Nadia’s lawyer, Faizi Che Abu, later said the family plans to file a suit seeking RM1 million in compensation for Amirul’s death.
Faizi, who is holding a watching brief in the case, did not disclose who the respondents would be.
Technician R Saktygaanapathy, 28, was earlier charged with committing murder by causing the death of Amirul, 33, at Jalan Raya Barat here on March 29.
No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the High Court’s jurisdiction.
Murder is punishable by the death penalty or 30 to 40 years in prison and a minimum 12 strokes of the rotan.
Saktygaanapathy was also charged with self-administering drugs, to which he pleaded guilty.
A dashcam video clip had shown a car overtaking in the opposite lane before crashing into Amirul’s motorcycle, sending him flying into the air and landing on top of another vehicle.
Amirul, a p-hailing rider, died at the scene.
