According to Bukit Aman’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), police collected more than RM89 million, involving 803,739 summonses via MyBayar Saman, following discounts of up to 50%, which ended yesterday.
In view of this, JSPT director Azisman Alias said they will improve the e-payment platform and MyBayar Saman application to further increase the collection of summonses.
As at yesterday, he said 814,622 users had registered with MyBayar Saman since its inception on March 25.
“We are in the process of updating the system, among others, by introducing collections of summonses such as registration for companies and foreigners, and individual payment limits,” he told Bernama.
Thus far, MyBayar Saman is the sole provider of online payment systems for the public to pay summonses issued by police.
On March 25, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said that motorists with traffic summonses can enjoy discounts of up to 50% via the MyBayar Saman online portal and smartphone application from March 25 to April 11.
The offer was then extended to April 15 due to encouraging public response.
However, discounts were not offered for selected road offences such as beating traffic lights, speeding, overtaking on double lines, using a mobile phone while driving and driving in the emergency lane.
