
In a statement today, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Kg Lebak Moyoh and Kg Siasai Tamu will be under EMCO until April 8 after 15 residents tested positive from the 166 screened so far in the two localities.
Meanwhile, the EMCO in two villages in Nabawan, Sabah, will be lifted tomorrow as scheduled after a downward trend in positive cases in the two areas.
Ismail said of the 821 screened at Kampung Sinsingon and Kampung Lotong, 140 tested positive.
Meanwhile, 41 people were arrested by the police yesterday over MCO-related offences, with 28 issued compounds and 13 remanded.
Among the offences were failing to provide materials for contact tracing registration (24) and failing to wear face mask (seven).
Ismail added that a total of 3,866 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on 33,022 supermarkets, places of worship, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals yesterday.
The authorities also detained nine undocumented migrants and seized two vehicles as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign.
Ismail said that 153,668 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to March 24 and placed under quarantine.
Some 1,135 tested positive and were sent to hospitals for treatment, while 145,461 have been allowed to return home.
Another 7,072 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine.
