PETALING JAYA: With youth unemployment breaching 17%, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has urged the government to address the gravity of the problem.
He also asked the government to consider how this predicament would only compound the woes of families in middle and low income areas.
In a media statement, Anwar told the press that the government has downplayed figures to 4% to 5% long enough.
“Some 17.3% of our youth are unemployed or retrenched, including those who are fresh out of school and university,” he said.
He also said the government has glossed over this matter and continues to assure the rakyat that everything is well under control.
