PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a couple who had allegedly fled when approached, hurting several policemen and damaging their motorcycles in the process.

One policeman who had alighted to question them clung to the hood of their car but fell off after 150 metres.

Kajang police chief Mohd Zaid Hassan said in a statement today that around 10.30pm last night, a patrol team in Bandar Baru Bangi had attempted to inspect a Perodua Alza that was “parked suspiciously” at the parking lot of a McDonald’s in Section 9, with its engine still on.

When a policeman knocked on the window and told the couple to exit the vehicle, the man attempted to escape by ramming the officer and his motorcycle, which was parked in front of the car.

“The policeman in front of the car was then forced to cling onto the vehicle for a distance of around 150 metres,” Zaid said.

Zaid said the couple in the Alza escaped and that several officers sustained light injuries. He said their motorcycles were slightly damaged.

Kajang police managed to arrest the man and woman by tracking the vehicle’s number plate. The couple will be remanded for further investigation.
