PKR may lose 2 more MPs to ruling coalition

The duo are in talks with middlemen from Perikatan Nasional, say sources.

Two more PKR MPs, including one from East Malaysia, are likely to quit the party, say sources.
PETALING JAYA:
Two PKR MPs are in talks with middlemen from Perikatan Nasional to cross over to the governing coalition, according to sources in the know.

He said one of the MPs is from East Malaysia.

“The MP is expected to join a party that is PN friendly. The MP has confirmed that he is jumping ship,” the source told FMT.

FMT has not been able to contact the MP as his phone has been switched off.

The source said the MP had been approached by PPBM several times in the past but had put the plan on hold due to his personal relationship with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

The other MP who may exit PKR is from Peninsular Malaysia.

The source said the MP was at one time close to senior minister Mohamed Azmin Ali but did not leave with him during the Sheraton Move in February 2020.

“The negotiations with the second PKR MP has just started and it can go either way,” the source added.

PKR won 48 parliamentary seats in the last general election but are now left with 38.
