Chief Minister Hajiji Noor said this would include proposed measures to deepen the Padas River and realign the riverbanks.
“The Sabah government will take into consideration all proposals. We are not going to relent in our efforts to address the flood problem in Beaufort,” he said in a statement here today.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters after visiting flood victims at Dewan Datuk Sri Panglima Mohd Dun Banir and Dewan Pa’ Musa here, Hajiji assured that the state would do its best to provide assistance to the victims.
A total of 217 people from 68 families displaced by floods have been evacuated to the two temporary shelters following non-stop rain for several days.
The chief minister presented RM500 in cash assistance and a food basket to each of the affected families.
Hajiji said it was important that residents followed directives by the authorities, particularly when told to evacuate and move to higher ground.
He advised those at temporary shelters to always observe the health SOPs in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We don’t want them to be victims of floods and Covid-19 too,” he said.
Later, Hajiji visited the Padas Bridge and Kampung Pimping Padi Cluster area in Membakut where almost all of the 31.7 ha of paddy fields have been flooded.
