PKR president Anwar Ibrahim says the office of the Registrar of Societies is not a political tool for the government to use to suit its agenda.
PETALING JAYA:
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has come to the defence of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Pejuang and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s Muda, slamming the Registrar of Societies (RoS) for rejecting the applications to register the two parties.

In a statement, he demanded that the RoS explain its decision.

“These rights are enshrined in our Federal Constitution.

“The office of the RoS is not a political tool for the government to use and manipulate to suit its agenda.

“Transparency and accountability must be enforced so that all members in that department realise their responsibility. They must be called upon to account for their actions,” he said.

Earlier today, it was revealed that the RoS had rejected the applications of Pejuang and Muda to register as political parties, with no specific reason given.
