
In a statement, he said since May, 189 checks were done at stations of MRT, LRT, Monorail, Keretapi Tanah Melayu and Express Rail Link (ERL).
“Admittedly, the compliance levels were relatively low in June at 63%, but the number was successfully improved to 90% in October and 100% last month,” he said.
He said this in response to concerns raised about the level of SOP compliance during MCO.
Wee said under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342), the health ministry had authorised Land Public Transport Officers (PPAD) to monitor SOPs recommended by the National Security Council.
“Our PPADs have been on the ground to conduct and monitor since May, to check if rail stations and terminals had ‘MySejahtera’ QR codes, body temperature scanners, sanitisers, and if passengers wear masks on the trains,” he added.
Wee said the improvement showed that passengers were aware of the new normal.
