KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) and Air Selangor detected odour pollution measuring about 4 TON (threshold odour number) in Sungai Kundang at midnight last night but there was no shutdown of any water treatment plant.
The odour pollution was believed to be from water overflowing from a pond near the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) sewage treatment plant at Taman Velox, Rawang.
According to a LUAS Twitter post, the incident was also believed to be due to a leak caused by heavy rain in the area.
It said Air Selangor took immediate action by placing 14 bags of activated carbon at the outlet and in the drain area of the pond near the treatment plant.
“No work stoppages of water treatment plants and water supply disruption were reported,” said the post.
LUAS said IWK was also implementing cleaning and control work in the area.
