Sabah BN chairman Bung Moktar Radin said there have been rumours that GRS will contest the parliamentary seat, including interest shown by a PPBM leader in Batu Sapi, but nothing has been confirmed.
“We will help (whoever is picked), we are in the coalition (GRS). We have heard rumours (but) it’s not confirmed who will be nominated,” Bung Moktar told a news conference here today.
The Batu Sapi seat fell vacant following the death of Liew Vui Keong from Warisan on Oct 2. The Election Commission has fixed Nov 23 for nomination, Dec 1 for early voting and Dec 5 for polling if there is a contest.
BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has said the coalition will not contest the by-election and Warisan vice-president Jaujan Sambakong has confirmed the party has identified its candidate.
GRS, which comprises Perikatan Nasional (PN), BN and PBS, won the 16th state election in September.
