Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council member Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the state government would continue to focus on political stability and development in Sarawak.
He said the GPS government is working very well with the current federal government under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Plus formula.
“As far as I am concerned, none of the GPS leaders have switched sides. Besides, we had the (weekly) Cabinet meeting this morning with the prime minister and we were discussing issues concerning the people and development in Sarawak,” he told FMT.
Wan Junaidi said his colleagues from GPS, including Works Minister Fadillah Yusof and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi were also present at the meeting and everything was fine.
“If any of the GPS leaders had wanted to support Anwar, our Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg would have contacted us directly,” he said.
Wan Junaidi, who is also the entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister, told Sarawakians not to listen to any rumours that could destabilise the country.
“Do not listen to someone who is obsessed with becoming the next prime minister, neglecting the economy, security and welfare of the people,” the Santubong MP said.
Meanwhile, GPS secretary-general Alexander Nanta Linggi reaffirmed the Sarawak government’s undivided support to Muhyiddin as prime minister and denied any links to Anwar.
“As the secretary-general of both GPS and PBB, I want to remind Anwar to stop all this immature political games that only serves his own interests and ambition,” he said in an official statement from GPS.
Linggi added that GPS, which comprises PBB, SUPP, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Parti Demokratik Progresif Sarawak (PDP) will continue to back the principle that a stable federal government is necessary for the good of the people and the nation’s economy.
“Anwar should stop all this attempts to destabilise the nation that will have a negative impact on the people and the economy.
“GPS also wishes to stress once again, that we will not work with PKR because it is allied with an arrogant party which had claimed that Sarawak will become bankrupt under the GPS administration,” Linggi said, alluding to PKR’s Pakatan Harapan ally, DAP.
