SEPANG:
Airline passenger traffic numbers tripled last month in comparison with June, said Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) today.

Malaysia Airports CEO Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said this was largely due to an increase in domestic travel, with aircraft movements doubling to 22,600 and passenger traffic to almost 1.3 million.

These figures include repatriation flights, with 27 airlines currently operating routes to 30 cities in 20 countries.

He said this growth indicated an increase in confidence among both passengers and airlines as the number of flights continued to increase in and out of Malaysia.

Mohd Shukrie also said that MAHB was committed to ensuring a safe airport experience.

“Despite aggressive cost containment measures, we will continue to invest in areas where passenger safety can be enhanced,” he said, adding,“our latest safety measure at the airport is the installation of UV handrail sterilisers at our escalators and walkalators which are expected to eliminate 99.9% of unwanted micro-organisms.”
