Warisan secretary-general Loretto Padua said Annuar should “wake up” and realise that it was Umno which was involved in the infamous Projek IC.

Projek IC is the alleged systematic granting of citizenship to illegal immigrants in the state in the 1980s and 1990s.

“Umno’s system is the one that wrecked Sabah,” he said in a statement here today.

Padua was responding to a Twitter post by Annuar two days ago, blaming Warisan for an influx of illegal immigrants.

Annuar added that the illegal immigrants were being granted temporary passes, referring to the Sabah Temporary Pass, and further claimed they were given identity cards to allow them to vote.

He accused the Sabah government of being unfair to Sabahans.

Padua said the Warisan-led state government was trying to solve the problem created by Umno which has burdened the people all this while.

“Is Umno still trying to hide and accuse the Warisan-led government? Frankly, I think the past administration is not qualified to speak about the illegal immigrant issue because they had failed to settle the problem when they were in power,” he said.

“Annuar is only coming to Sabah because there is a by-election in Kimanis and trying to sell cheap issues when every problem Sabah has now is because of Umno-Barisan Nasional.

“As a senior leader, he should be able to do something better then embarrass himself. Don’t take Sabahans for fools,” Padua said.
