His lawyer Farhan Shafee told High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah that the defence would file the necessary documents by Nov 29.
The judge then set a further mention date for Lokman on Dec 6.
Speaking to reporters later, Farhan said the defence was seeking to set aside the order on grounds that it is defective, among others.
“The defence is challenging the manner in which this contempt proceeding was taken to court,” he said.
The High Court had allowed the prosecution to start contempt proceedings against Lokman for threatening prosecution witness Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin.
Amhari, who was Najib’s former special officer, had testified in his former boss’ 1MDB trial on abuse of power and money laundering from Sept 3 to Sept 23.
Ad hoc prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram said Lokman had attempted to interfere with the administration of justice.
The lawyer, who was appointed to lead 1MDB-related prosecution, said Lokman had not only lodged a police report against Amhari, but had given a video interview in which he allegedly attacked the integrity of the attorney-general.
In his police report, Lokman urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate and prosecute Amhari for receiving money from fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho.
He also uploaded a video repeating the allegations in the report.
