Anestassia Chin Fat said this when asked by lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, representing Nazrin’s wife, Samirah Muzaffar, and two others accused of the murder, on whether she had doubts on how Nazrin’s remains were found to be charred and beside his bed on June 14, 2018.
Shafee: Did you find anything in the room and within the house compound that may be the murder weapon?
Anestassia: No.
Shafee: Did you see any bloodstains on the room’s wall, as well as petrol or anything that could start a fire?
Anestassia: No.
Anestassia, from the Petaling Jaya police district headquarters, said she was the first investigating officer in the case as she was on duty the day police received a report on the discovery of Nazrin’s remains in the house.
She said she was roped in again into the investigating team when Nizam Daud took over the case after it was reclassified as murder in August 2018.
“I assisted Nizam for this case until the accused and the teenagers were charged in court,” she said.
Asked by Shafee whether she also took Samirah’s statement during the course of the investigation, Anestassia said she took her statement after her two colleagues did the same.
She said Nizam instructed her to ask Samirah questions on the couple’s relationship as well as Nazrin’s relationship with his two stepsons.
“I also asked her about the deceased’s relationship with his former wife on matters of child custody and insurance,” she said.
Earlier, Anestassia told the court she saw cuts on Nazrin’s face and injuries on the head when she went to his house in Mutiara Damansara on June 14, 2018.
“I went to the bedroom upstairs where the fire had broken out. I saw the remains of a man clad only in underwear beside his bed.
“I noticed wounds on the left side of his face that looked like cuts as well as head injuries,” she said.
Asked by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Asnawi Abu Hanipah whether there were other injuries, she said she also saw burn marks on Nazrin’s left shoulder.
The hearing before High Court judge Ab Karim Ab Rahman continues on Oct 2.
