Yesterday, Anwar had said the party welcomed a police statement indicating that Azmin was not involved in the gay sex video and reiterated the party’s stand against gutter politics.

The Port Dickson MP had previously said if investigations proved that Azmin was involved in the video clip, then he should resign – a statement that led to a rebuke from Azmin.

It also led to a rift in PKR, with vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin claiming there were cracks in the party.

Last night, Azmin – who did not attend the party’s retreat at a resort in Port Dickson – said he took note of Anwar’s stand after going through his full statement.

“I also take note of the resolution that stern action will be taken against leaders and party members who are involved in spreading the video.

“This is in line with my earlier stand that gutter politics within the party must be fought till the end,” the Gombak MP tweeted.

Former Santubong Youth leader Haziq Aziz had confessed to being one of the two men in the controversial video. He named Azmin as the other person.

Azmin strongly denied the claim, saying it was aimed at killing his political career.
