The order was issued by magistrate Roslizi Sulaiman today following the arrest of the 26-year-old man at a house in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, yesterday afternoon.
Police also seized a tanker lorry believed to have been used to transport the effluents for dumping into the pond.
Initial investigation showed the suspect may have been offered a contract by a company to dispose of the effluents.
Earlier, Selangor Environment, Green Technology, Consumer Affairs, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Hee Loy Sian said the clean-up of the pond resulted in the collection 28,000 litres of industrial effluents which had been kept in a temporary storage tank for proper disposal.
As many as 21 chemical substances from industrial waste were found to have been dumped into the retention pond.
