KUCHING:
Former journalist Joseph Tawie has lodged a police report in response to the one made against him by a Sarawak assistant minister regarding a Facebook post.

In a Facebook posting on Jan 28, Sarawak-based Tawie had claimed that the assistant minister was abusing his powers as a representative of the people.

Tawie, 73, was arrested on Saturday at his farm at Simunjan after a police report was lodged against him by the assistant minister earlier the same day.

Tawie was brought to Kuching for his statement to be taken.

Tawie, who is also a former police officer, said he lodged his report against the assistant minister at the Kuching police headquarters’ one-stop centre here today.

He stated that his posting was based on information given to him by tuai rumah (longhouse chiefs) in Simunjan.
