Rafizi claims lead against Azmin in Melaka, NS

He claims to have obtained more than half of the votes from some 46,000 PKR members in the two states.

Rafizi Ramli is in a showdown with incumbent Azmin Ali for PKR’s number two post.
PETALING JAYA:
Rafizi Ramli said he got the majority support from PKR members in Melaka and Negeri Sembilan who voted in the party polls today, in his bid to unseat deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Rafizi said unofficial results showed he won 55% of the votes in Melaka and 52% in Negeri Sembilan.

“I am deeply grateful to PKR members in Negeri Sembilan and Melaka who voted today,” he said on Facebook.

A total of 36,970 members from eight PKR divisions in Negeri Sembilan and 9,387 from six divisions in Melaka voted in the party elections today.

The elections are conducted in stages, to choose division as well as central leaders. But the focus has been on the deputy president’s post, where Rafizi has branded himself as a supporter of party stalwart Anwar Ibrahim’s reformasi battlecry.

Rafizi had earlier declared himself the winner in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and the Federal Territory, while Azmin is said to have the upperhand in Penang and Johor.
