
Asked if she was aware of the practice among party members, she said: “Now that you ask me, I am aware.”
She added that the central election committee would look into the matter.
PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli had earlier voiced concern over the practice.
He urged party members to reject candidates involved in this culture and to learn from the mistakes of Umno, which he said fell due to money politics.
He said since PKR had become part of the government, those with money would be interested in the party.
On another matter, Wan Azizah said the Pakatan Harapan government was committed to reducing the gap between the median household incomes in different states.
She was commenting on a report by the Khazanah Research Institute, analysing 2016 data published by the Statistics Department, which found that residents in densely-populated districts in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor had a higher median household income.
According to the report, Kuala Lumpur had the highest median household income at RM9,073, 4.3 times higher than the Pitas district in Sabah, which had the lowest median household income in the country at RM2,105.
