PUTRAJAYA:
DAP deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo has rubbished Umno’s president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s call to form a unity government with any party within Pakatan Harapan, saying that his party would never cooperate with Umno.

“That’s what Zahid said but as far as I am concerned, there is no such cooperation with them in PH,” he told reporters after attending an event today at Putrajaya.

He said he only came to know about this through media reports.

He said if indeed there had been any meetings between PH and Umno, it was just normal meetings without any specific purpose.

“Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has a firm stance on this and we will support him.

“But speaking on behalf of DAP, we will never cooperate with Umno.”

According to NST, Zahid said Umno was open to establishing a unity government with PH before or after Anwar Ibrahim becomes prime minister.

Gobind said he believed there would be no problem in Anwar becoming the next prime minister, as promised before.

“There will be a smooth transition, I believe.

“We have made it clear that Mahathir will be the prime minister and Anwar will be the next one. There is no doubt about that.”
