
Syahredzan Johan, Lim’s political secretary, was responding to a Twitter post lashing out at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government over the announcement, which comes less than three weeks before the Oct 13 by-election.
Twitter user Mutalib Rahman questioned the excuse that the allocation could be a coincidence.
“How the hell this is allowed? Of all days it comes during byelection? Coincidence my a**! Abusing government fund to win? Is Anwar is really unpopular and desperate?” said Mutalib, followed by Syahredzan’s response: “Agreed. This cannot be condoned.”
PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim is attempting to make his return to Parliament in the upcoming by-election in Port Dickson, after retired navy officer Danyal Balagopal Abdullah agreed to vacate the seat which he won in the May 9 polls.
Port Dickson, a coastal town in Negeri Sembilan, is home to many army camps.
Yesterday, Anwar pledged not to use any government machinery in his campaign.
“I have made it clear, I do not want any government facility or machinery to be used in this election,” he told reporters yesterday.
