Police explain reason behind raid on home of Najib Razak's mother.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
PETALING JAYA:
Police today defended last night’s raid on former prime minister Najib Razak’s mother’s house saying it was related to an ongoing probe.

“We felt that her home needed to be inspected as part of our investigations,” Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim was quoted as saying by The Star after attending a futsal competition in Kuala Lumpur.

According to the English daily, Noor also said Tun Rahah Mohammad Noah had cooperated with police.

He also said police did not seize anything as they could not find anything in connection with their investigation.

Earlier today, Najib slammed the raid — carried out while he was being charged in court — calling it disrespectful.

Police had raided Rahah’s house on Jalan Eaton in Kuala Lumpur. It is believed that it was related to the ongoing investigations into the former leader’s role in 1MDB.

Najib was slapped with 25 charges yesterday, bringing the total to 32 so far since investigations began in the aftermath of Barisan Nasional’s downfall in the May 9 polls.
