He noted in a statement today that the setting up of an RCI was one of the 10 promises within 100 days in the PH election manifesto.

“Rather than speculation on top of speculation, it is high time and only fair for the rakyat that there is an open, transparent and politically-neutral platform to learn the truth about 1MDB once and for all.”

The MP for Ayer Hitam said according to the US Department of Justice and Wall Street Journal exposes, among those who had received funds directly from 1MDB into their personal accounts or accounts they controlled were the owners and a top official of PetroSaudi, International Petroleum Investment Company and Aabar.

Wee wanted to know if the government had called these foreigners for questioning or had requested their extradition to Malaysia. If not, he asked if there were any plans to do so.

“Following yesterday’s development wherein the Singapore government returned RM46 million to Malaysia and former prime minister Najib Razak’s revelation of certain bank documents plus his explanation that shows that the Saudi Arabia ministry of finance, as well as a Saudi Prince, had indeed given a large amount of funds to his personal account, I urge the PH government to fulfil their manifesto promise to hold a RCI for 1MDB.”
