Muhammed Abdul Khalid named economic adviser to Dr Mahathir

The former Khazanah Research Institute director’s appointment takes effect on Monday.

PETALING JAYA:
Former Khazanah Research Institute director Muhammed Abdul Khalid has been appointed as an economic adviser to Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the Prime Minister’s Office announced.

Muhammed, who led the Council of Eminent Persons’ secretariat, is a trained economist and is also a former senior analyst at the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS).

He also served as a consultant for the World Bank and several United Nation bodies.

Muhammed’s appointment takes effect on Aug 27.

He obtained his PhD (magna cum laude) from the Institut d’études Politiques de Paris (SciencesPo Paris), France. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Universiti Malaya and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Currently, he is the managing director and chief economist at DM Analytics Malaysia.
