Wan Azizah said one of the reasons for the coalition’s inability to fulfil all its 100-day promises was a lack of clear information on the issues.
“It isn’t easy, because when we took over, we did not have enough information to identify how deep the problems were.
“I’m not giving excuses. I know that we should not stop at the fact that we have not met our target, but we are trying very hard,” she said when met at the Parliament lobby today.
Asked if PH should apologise for not fulfilling all the promises it said it would fulfil in its first 100 days, Wan Azizah said “no”.
One of the promises fulfilled is the i-Suri/Employees Provident Fund (EPF) programme, under which eligible women who contribute a minimum of RM5 a month into their retirement savings accounts will receive a government incentive of RM40 per month, which will be deposited into their EPF account.
Part of the programme is for 2% of the husband’s EPF contribution to be transferred into his wife’s EPF account.
The proposed scheme comes under Wan Azizah’s women, family and community development ministry.
Several other promises have also been fulfilled, while the process has been started on some others.
