
The bullets were discovered while her bag was being scanned at the airport prior to boarding her flight to Langkawi, Kedah, at about 6pm.
Airport security officers detained the student after she failed to give a “reasonable explanation” for the bullets. A police report was also lodged over the incident.
Southwest district police chief Superintendent A Anbalagan said the woman claimed that her brother, who worked as a beach boy in Langkawi, had placed the bullets in her bag without her knowledge.
The case will be investigated under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960 for possession of ammunition without an arms licence, which carries a maximum seven years’ jail and up to RM10,000 fine if convicted.
