KOTA RAJA: PKR is putting forward a fresh-faced candidate for the Sungai Kandis by-election.
Party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today named Zawawi Ahmad Mughni as Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the by-election on Aug 4.
Zawawi is an ustaz, or religious teacher.
“I hope to get the support of the people to ensure victory in the by-election,” he said, adding that he wanted to help the poor in the area and solve the problems such as clogged drains, uncollected rubbish and faulty street lights.
The Sungai Kandis state seat became vacant following the death of PKR assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei.
Shuhaimi, a former political secretary of ex-Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, died of lymphoma on July 2.
Nomination will be held on July 21.
