“They should not give lame excuses such as problems being inherited from the previous government when responding to complaints,” said Sabah Amanah chairman Hamzah Abdullah.
“While there is some truth to it, people voted them to power. They should be rectifying these problems,” said.
Hamzah contested against Warisan permanent chairman VK Liew for the Batu Sapi parliamentary seat in a four-cornered fight last May 9, despite both Amanah and Warisan aligned to PH.
PH did not allocate Amanah any seat in Sabah in the recent general election, but the party went ahead to contest against allies Warisan in at least two seats.
Hamzah said those in Sabah’s east coast Sandakan district wanted elected representatives to deliver on their promises.
He said six elected representatives from the parliamentary seats of Sandakan, Batu Sapi and Libaran were either federal or state ministers as well as assistant ministers.
“While we are aware that some are busy with their ministerial duties, they have their respective offices.
“They should keep abreast of what is happening on the ground and find solutions to address issues affecting the people,” he said.
He said Warisan should now show they could do a better job in managing the state.
“When they were in the opposition they criticised and lambasted the government for not doing their work.”
Citing a sewage clog problem in Sandakan as an example, he said it was still waiting for a solution.
“Almost two months down the road (after the 14th general election), there is not any slight indication that things are changing for the better as compared to before, in Sandakan,” he said.
