A Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblyman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the chosen assemblyman, would be present at the the rehearsal for the swearing-in ceremony.
“We will know who he is after we get back from our Hari Raya weekend,” he said.
Either Ijok assemblyman Dr Idris Ahmad or Sungai Tua assemblyman Amirudin Shari is expected to be Azmin Ali’s successor.
The source said Selangor PH had submitted three names – Idris, Amirudin and Seri Setia assemblyman Shaharudin Badaruddin – to the palace.
Amirudin and Shaharudin are also members of the current state executive council (exco) while Idris is an obstetrics and gynaecology specialist.
“However it will be a ‘straight’ fight between Idris and Amirudin for the MB’s job.
“Shaharudin would not likely helm the state as he is still recovering from illness,” the source said.
Another assemblyman told FMT that Sungai Kandis assemblyman Shuhaimi Shafiei and Paya Jaras assemblyman Khairuddin Othman were never on the list.
The assemblyman said all exco members have received the palace’s invitation for the swearing-in ceremony.
There has been much speculation about who will be the next menteri besar after Azmin was appointed as economic affairs minister after the May 9 election.
However he “remains” as menteri besar until his successor is sworn in.
