
However other names were also presented to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah for his consideration.
“He (Idris) is one of the names as candidates,” she said briefly when asked today while at a Ramadan event at the official residence of the deputy prime minister.
Yesterday, Idris, 70, had said that PKR had proposed only his name to the Selangor Sultan and that he had been informed accordingly by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and Wan Azizah.
Idris, a gynaecologist by profession, was re-elected as Ijok assemblyman on May 9.
The menteri besar’s position fell vacant when Mohamed Azmin Ali resigned to become minister of economic affairs in the Cabinet of prime minister Mahathir Mohamad.
The Selangor palace had earlier stated that the new menteri besar would take his oath of office on June 19 at Istana Alam Shah, Klang, four days after Muslims welcomed Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Azmin was previously reported to have said that the candidate to be his successor was not among those serving in his executive council.
Two others are in the running, Seri Setia assemblyman Shaharuddin Badaruddin and Sungai Tua assemblyman Amiruddin Shari. Both are on the executive council.
