KAPIT: The 236 residents of Rumah Panjang Leorie in Nanga Ibau, about an hour’s boat journey along the Rajang River from here, were left homeless after the 32-door longhouse was razed in a fire at 7.30pm yesterday.
A Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said no one was hurt in the incident and that all the victims sought shelter at relatives’ homes.
He said the cause of the fire was still under investigation and losses were being assessed.
