The Kinabatangan MP said Warisan was just swaggering as no party, big or small, would go into the upcoming general election (GE14) without hoping or believing it could win.
“We hear this kind of talk every time there is an election, don’t we? Yet, in the end, BN always emerges victorious,” he said after launching Umno’s “Peduli Rakyat” (People-Centred) event in Kinabatangan today.
“I am also confident that BN is still accepted by the people because we have been helping them.
“We are concerned about their troubles and I think that is BN’s big advantage,” he said.
On BN’s list of candidates for Sabah which is expected to be revealed upon the ruling coalition launching its state manifesto on Apr 22, Bung said he was confident BN would give opportunities for fresh faces to be fielded.
He said BN believed in giving chances to young new candidates while maintaining elected representatives with good track records.
“Young leaders contribute to the continuity of BN’s struggle. That is why the people continue to support us because we constantly rejuvenate the party by giving opportunities to young people,” he said.
But Bung said it would be foolish to change all existing legislators with new candidates.
Many voters still preferred to have their current MPs or assemblymen representing them.
“Therefore, the party’s top leadership will also maintain these representatives and allow them to be candidates again.
“But in Sabah, we are hopeful to see more new faces contesting the seats, both at the state and federal levels,” he said.
